THE COMPANY

Home Rental Services was established by Bob Jackson in April 1997 as a specialist Property Management business to provide Gisborne homeowners with a complete and professional residential property management and letting agency service.

Since the company's inception, Home Rental Services has striven for industry excellence by utilising quality driven systems and by employing qualified and skilled property management personnel. We are now the largest privately owned provider of property management and letting agency services in the East Coast region.

OUR OFFICES

Our modern and spacious offices are located on the first floor of the Rockforte Tower building which is on the corner of Gladstone Road and Grey Street in Gisborne. Lifts are available from the ground floor foyer.

Our office hours for tenant registration and tenant interviews, are from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm weekdays. All members of our staff are required to be present in the office during these hours unless attending tribunal or mediation hearings. During the afternoons and on Saturday mornings our Property Managers are available only by prior appointment. We are not available on Sundays.

WAIROA

We also have a small office in Wairoa located in the County Club building on Marine Parade. This office is open on a part time basis only and clients should always make a prior appointment with our Wairoa property manager.

Bob Jackson - Principal 
Bob is the owner and principal of Home Rental Services, a business that he started from scratch in April 1997. Bob comes from a farming background and was for many years involved with sales of agricultural chemicals and animal remedies for such companies as ICI (New Zealand) and Dalgety New Zealand Ltd. In 1980 he entered the real estate business in Gisborne as a salesperson and by 1984 was fully licensed (Associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand) and running his own real estate company.

Bob recognised that there was a desperate need in the market place for a company specialising solely in residential Property Management and so Home Rental Services was born. The company has steadily grown and today Home Rental Services is the largest independent provider of property management and letting agency
services in the East Coast region.

Eileen Melville

Eileen Melville - Property manager 

Eileen joined our company in August 2000. She had previously been employed as a Case Manager for WINZ and earlier as a Claims Manager for ACC.

This people oriented experience meant that right from the start she was extremely well equipped to handle the daily problems encountered in the property management industry. Her understanding of the mechanics of our business was further enhanced when she completed her Property Management papers in 2001.

Now with over 40 years of clerical experience under her belt and an ever expanding portfolio of successfully managed properties it is little wonder that Eileen is regarded as our most senior and trusted property manager.

Graham Faulkner

Graham Faulkner - Property Manager and Letting Agent
Graham joined our company in June 2003. After a brief spell at Auckland University in the mid ‘60’s Graham spent the next 35 years farming - the last 30 years at Muriwai - before he and wife Heather moved to town in 2002.

As well as a long involvement with Federated Farmers and Gisborne Vet Club (Past President), he had 14 years as chairman of the local Area Health Board before being appointed as Commissioner and then as a member of the CHE Board. For some 16 years he has been an active member and past president of Gisborne Rotary Club and is also involved in several other community based activities.

This wide circle of contacts has enabled Graham to quickly adapt to our people oriented business where he is comfortable dealing with local people from all walks of life.

Michael Faulkner

Michael Faulkner - Property Manager
Michael Joined our team in July 2005. After leaving Gisborne Boys High School he went to work on his family’s farm and later as a shepherd on a large Hawkes Bay farm.

In 1997 he left New Zealand and spent 5 years in Denmark where he worked in a variety of jobs including Mink farming, Christmas tree farming and also for a large flooring company. In addition he gained some valuable experience in the music industry promoting and marketing CDs for various record labels.

He now speaks fluent Danish. On returning to New Zealand with his Danish partner Michael entered the real estate industry, initially as a salesperson and now as a very competent and successful property manager.

   

Suzanne Hansen

Suzanne Hansen - Office Manager
Suzanne joined our company in December 2008 as our office administrator and accounts manager and she very quickly and ably mastered our accounting and property management software systems.

Like many of our staff members Suzanne comes from a farming background having lived and worked with her husband on several large sheep and beef stations in the Taumaranui, Te Anau and Raetihi areas.

Previously she had worked as sole charge office administrator for Excel Engineering Ltd. in Cambridge and Hi Tech Irrigation Services Ltd. in Morrinsville. Suzanne and her husband Aaron have two delightful daughters.

Sharron Young
(Wairoa Property Manager)
Sharron Young - (Wairoa Property Manager)
Sharron joined our company as property manager for the Wairoa district in May 2007 and quickly became an integral and important part of our expanded operation in that area.

Sharron is from a sheep and beef farming background and is married to a station manager at Frasertown just outside of Wairoa. Over the years Sharron has had a variety of occupations including 5 years with the Budget Advisory Service; a teacher’s aide and as a coordinator for a parenting charitable trust. Her voluntary work has included Victim Support, Playcentre Association, Cubs, Cadets, and more recently with the NZ Rodeo Association.

Sharron and her husband Jeff have four adult children.
